Lady Tigers Win 12th Consecutive Region VII Championship

The Lady Tigers came back from the losers bracket on Monday to defeat Walters State 3-1 and 4-1 to win their 12th consecutive Region VII Championship.  The Lady Tigers will compete in Clermont, Florida next week for the National Championship.

Head Softball Coach Beth Keylon-Randolph Posts 200th Win

With a 7-1 victory at Lee University, Beth Keylon-Randolph coached the Lady Tigers to their 200th win under her leadership.  With an overall record of 200 and 38 over the past 4 years, Randolph has led the Lady Tigers to 4 Eastern Division Regular Season Championships followed by 4 Region Titles.  The Tigers will play for their 5th consecutive Region Championship under Randolph beginning May 7 in Columbia, Tennessee.

Chattanooga State Finishes Regular Season Conference Play Undefeated

Chattanooga State finished the regular season undefeated in conference play.  In Sunday's double header against Roane State, Melissa Hendon pitched a 5 inning perfect game, facing 15 batters and striking out 11.  The final score was 9-0.  In game two, Hendon started the game on the mound with Warren coming on in the third.  India Turner had 3 home runs on the day, Jessi Emery 2 and single homeruns by Mounce, Rockwell and Thomas in the 29-0 route.  The Lady Tigers are now 42-7.

Lady Tigers Sweep Volunteer State

In the opening game of Saturday's double header against the Vol State Lady Pioneers, Melissa Hendon threw a 2 hitter while striking out 10 to win the 2-0 shut out.  In the second game, Amber Hanes got the win and Melissa Hendon earned a save in the 4-2 win.  Cara Stiles was 3-for-3 and Katie Rockwell had a homerun.  The Lady Tigers are now 30-5 and will travel to Cleveland State on Monday.

Chattanooga State Ranked 5th in the Nation

With a 28-5 record the Lady Tigers, were ranked 5th in the nation on the NJCAA Fastpitch Division I poll.  The Lady Tigers opened the season with a 6th place ranking.  This past week, Chattanooga State faced Hiwassee, walking away with 2 wins and were to have played in the Central Alabama Tournament.  Unfortunately the tournament was cancelled due to inclement weather. 

Lady Tigers 2-1 in Pool Play at NFCA Lead-off Classic

On Friday Chattanooga State defeated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 7-2.  Maranda Mounce was 4-for-5 with 2 runs scored.  Jessi Emery and Melissa Hendon each had homeruns and Cara Stiles was 2-for-2.  Hendon and Amber Hanes combined on a 4 hitter with 8 strike-outs.

The afternoon game with Daytona Beach was a pitcher's duel between Hendon and Savannah Filley.  Hendon won the battle only giving up 3 hits while striking out 10.  Maranda Mounce scored the first run on an RBI double from Jessi Emery.  Sherry Hicks knocked in the go ahead run after a Katie Rockwell double. The final score was 2-1.

In the final game of pool play the Louisburg Lady Canes capitalized on defensive miscues to hand the Lady Tigers their first loss in tournament. Megan Foley suffered the loss bringing her record to 3-2.  Cara Stiles was 2-for-4 with 2 singles, a stolen base and 2 runs scored. Jessi Emery was 3-for-4 with a homerun and 4 RBIs. 

In the first round of bracket play, the Lady Tigers pounded out 11 hits in route to a 9-2 win over the Darton Lady Cavs. Melissa Hendon moved her record to 11-1 giving up 5 hits while striking out 8.  India Turner put the Tigers on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.  The Lady Cavs answered with a two run home run in the top of the third.  The Tigers' bats were quiet until the fifth inning when Katie Rockwell blasted her 4th home run of the season.  Maranda Mounce singled, moved up on a fielders choice and scored when Katie Bulls singled to right center.  Jessi Emery followed suit with her 8th home run of the season scoring Bulls.  In their final at bat, the Lady Tigers sealed the game with a pinch hit base clearing single by Emily Barbee.

The Tigers defeated Pensacola 9-4 in Sunday's opening game and lost to Indian River 2-5 in the championship game to take 2nd place in the silver bracket.

Chattanooga State Set to Play for Gulf Coast Beach Classic Championship

Panama City Beach, FL.  Chattanooga State Lady Tigers won 3 on Saturday to put them in the tournament championship of the Gulf Coast Beach Classic.  In pool play, they defeated Tallahassee 4-3 with a Katie Bulls 2 run double in the bottom of the 7th to win the game.  Melissa Hendon got the win.  Hendon came back on the mound for the first game of tournament play against Chipola where Katie Rockwell and Lindsey Thomas hit back to back homeruns in the 6-0 win.  In the final game on Saturday, the Lady Tigers faced Okaloosa-Walton.  Chattanooga State scored early on a 2 run homerun by Katie Bulls in the first.  Jessi Emery added to the total with a 3 run homer in the third.  Megan Foley got the win.  The championship game is set to begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday.

The championship game was rained out.

Lady Tigers Open at the St. Petersburg Tournament of Champions

The Chattanooga State Lady Tigers opened the season at the St. Petersburg Tournament of Champions where they were 3 and 1 with victories over Lake Sumter (15-0), Daytona Beach (6-5) and Miami Dade (3-0).  They fell to Manatee in the final game of the four game series (4-0).

Foley No-Hits Spartanburg Methodist

On Friday (2/18/05) the Lady Tigers traveled to Spartanburg, SC where they took two from Spartanburg Methodist in a double header.  Megan Foley tossed a no-hitter in the late game, allowing no walks in the five inning 11-0 win.

Melissa Hendon got the start in the early game, giving up 2 hits, striking out 8 through 6 innings.  Amber Hanes closed the 8-0 win in the 7th.

Katie Bulls and Care Stiles were each 4-for-8 on the day.  Bulls had eight RBIs and two runs. Melissa Hendon was 4-for-6 with a double and Maranda Mounce was 3-for-9. Stiles and Mounce each scored four runs.  Sherry Hicks and India Turner were 3-for-6.  Lindsey Thomas belted in 3 runs with a bases-loaded triple, and Jessi Emery had a 2 run double. 

The Lady Tigers are now 5-and-1.
