she coached first base for both teams.
Blue started the scoring in the 3rd when starting pitcher Jessica Duncan walked, stole second and was driven home by a Tabitha McNew infield single to shortstop. Ashley Bryson scored the second Blue run in the fourth, reaching first on a fielder’s choice, stealing second and then coming home on a base hit by Kaela Jackson.
Orange answered with one in the fifth. Lauren Stoker walked with two out and was driven home by a Brianna Payne triple down the left field line. In the sixth, the Orange knotted the score at two when Chelsea Simon doubled off the left field wall and one out later was doubled home by Kendall Bruning.
In the bottom of the sixth, Blue bunched together hits by McNew, Britni Pearce, Bryson and Jackson, scoring four. Two walks and four stolen bases aided in the 4-run inning.
Of the 7 Blue hits, McNew and Jackson had two while Meagan Qualls, Bryson and Leah Kelley each had one. Orange had a matching seven hits, led by Payne who had 3, with Simon, Bruning, Lisa Ripperger and Shana Westover chipping in with one apiece.
Following the game, Tiger parents provided food for players and fans, while Coach Randolph had the opportunity to talk with many of those in attendance. On the day everyone was given a program featuring Tiger softball, a schedule for the upcoming spring games and a newsletter called the “Tiger Times.”
“I want to thank all the parents, friends and fans that attended the game. Tiger softball has worked tirelessly this fall and to have this type of turnout from people who care about our softball program is extremely gratifying,” said Coach Randolph.
Individual practice and off-season weight training begin in earnest during the week of November 10.
